That’s the most asked question and very stressful part of dealing with head lice.
When we talk to our clients when they come in and tell them what needs to be done, we get the same reaction every time: "Oh nooo I wished I had known that before I stayed up all night and cleaned the house top to bottom, bagged all my kids stuffed animals and bedding. I made my child and I sleep in shower caps, I’m exhausted and so scared we will get it back through our home."
There is less than 2% chance you will get head lice through your environment. Head lice is mainly spread via head to head contact and occasionally via sharing hair brushes.
Here are the most important things to do:
Strip the bed with all the things like stuffed animals and blankets and put them in the dryer on high for 30 minutes.
Roll off headrests of fabric chairs and couches with lint roller or use the vacuum. Do the same in car and kid’s car seats.
Put hair brushes, combs and hair ties in a Ziploc bag in the freezer and leave overnight. You can also boil them but be careful as the plastic parts may melt.
NO BAGGING NECESSARY! NO Need to replace everything.
In our centers our technicians will answer any questions you may have for us. We will take the stress out of this stressful situation and the head lice off your head.
And your child can sleep with their favorite blanket or stuffed animal that night.
